How to get ready to play offensive guard for football?

Yeah I am 5'11, 215, muscled and wondering what I should do to prepare for football. Also is the position good for me.

Answer:
Yes, based on your height and weight, I believe that you will make a very good fit as an offensive guard. You have the ideal size for a high school offensive guard. What you need to do this (and every) offseason is eat healthy, exercise by doing weight lifting, and either jogging or going for a long run every day. If you do these things, you will get faster, stronger, and into better shape, which will greatly improve your chances of becoming a successful, top notch offensive guard in football.

How to strengthen my arm/shoulder for throwing a football?

I'll (more than likely) be starting quarterback next year for JV, and with the change in football size I've been having a small bit of trouble throwing it for a good distance; anything over 25 or 30-yards is getting tough. How could I strengthen my shoulder and gain my passing max?

Answer:
The best way to improve your arm strength is to throw regularly. Considering that you are dealing with a change in football size, my best advice for you is to throw a football of this new size 30-40 times per day, with 80% of them being normal, medium-range throws, and the other 20% being long range throws. Doing this will help improve your arm strength, while greatly reducing your risk of injury.

How to prepare for high school football?

How can I prepare for the upcoming season of high school football? I want to join I am 5'6 weigh 139 amd I do not consider myself fast. I dont have much equipment but I wont give up. Any tips? Thanks!

Answer:
I highly encourage you to join your high school football team next season. It will still not (yet) be too late for you to start playing football. Based on your height and weight, I believe that the best fit for you is at safety. You have the ideal size for a high school safety. What you need to do this (and every) offseason is eat healthy, and exercise by doing a lot of running every day. Personally, I recommend a calorie intake of 1800-2200, as well as at least one hour of running, per day. If you do these two things, you will get faster, stronger, and into better shape, which will greatly improve your chances of becoming a successful high school football player, as well as getting recruited to play for a college football program in the future.

How to become a better quartback than a guy in school?

I want to be a quarterback in high school next year and i'm very athletic. There's this guy in school who is also quarterback and going to the same school next year. He is very mean (he likes to make fun of people and very popular) he dosent look that althetic compared to me and he is much shorter than I am. Please help!

Answer:
work a lot on your mechanics. its not about your arm its about the mechanics. tom brady and joe montana have some of the best. to be a quarterback you have to work hard and do work OUTSIDE of the practice or workout sessions. you got to be the leader. if you win its the team if you lose its you. quarterbacks take a lot of blame so be ready. if your gonna work hard and put in work watch "quarterbacking by bill walsh" on youtube. ALL OF THEM. watch the movie "any given sunday". if you do all that and still want to play then look up how to read defenses. and read up. learn the rout tree you need to get your legs and core stronger to throw harder. the legs help you push off. good luck. any given sunday is reccomended but quarterbacking by bill walsh is a MUST.

How to hit harder and more accurate in football?

What are some ways to hit harder and more accurately in football? Like how do I increase my tackling chance, some drills I could do or technique help. Don't say lift weights because I'm already lifting with my team for the next season the first game is in 180 days. But this season I want to hit harder, and have better tackles. Is there a certain spot I need to aim for? If anyone has any advice on this it'd be greatly appreciated

Answer:
Train your legs... Too many guys try to get big shoulders/arms/backs... while all of these things are important, the real "pop" from a tackle comes when you drive through a tackler with your legs. Mainly you want to focus on quads and calves. But, also focus on building a strong core to support the force from a tackle. Weighted box jumps, squats (with and without calf extension), Leg Press, Planks, Hip and lower back exercises. As far as more accurately, the only thing you can do would be to make yourself more agile and be sure to keep your head up. A lot of that will depend on your position..a middle linebacker can probably focus a lot on top end speed and driving through your opponents, but a cornerback is going to need to focus on squaring up your hips and shoulders in order to get clean tackles. So, that is very specific. Once you've built up your lower body strength, go hit a tackling sled and focus on pushing it further than you did the day before. When you can really hit and move a tackling sled in one fluid, powerful motion you can be pretty confident in your ability to bring someone down.

How to get on a football team being 17 and home schooled?

I'm 17 and home schooled living north of Atlanta. i've always wanted to play football but i have no idea how to try out for a team or if its even possible being this age and being home schooled. i'm in good physical shape and i know how to play football but i've never played it for real. anyone have any tips or how i could get in contact with a local team coach?

Answer:
Many local schools have what is called an "inter mural" league. This league is generally open to the public, and they usually meet on a weekly basis. Call up one of the local public schools in your area to see what they have. Also, some churches have their own leagues for certain sports. You're more likely to find something if the church has its own school as well. Hope that helps.
