How to reformat my external hard rive to work for mac?

in

I have a seagate external hard drive and would really appreciate some help on how to reformat it to work with a mac.

Thanks!

Answer:
1. Plug in the external drive and power to it if needed 2. In Finder press Command+Shift+U to bring up the Utilities folder. 3. Open Disk Utility and select the drive from the left pane. 4. Select the Erase tab and choose format "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" 5. Give it a name and press Erase... This will make it so that it only works on a Mac. To make it work with Windows and Mac, only if you need to do this, choose "MS-DOS (FAT)"
