How to choose my bird and stuff?

in

I'm planning on getting a Quaker parrot. They are so cute and adorable!! Anyway, I need information about choosing the bird, and caring for it. I live in new Zealand, so there are only a few people here who breed them. I want it mainly to be friends with and teach tricks, they're so cute. So how old should it be, and what else do I need to know?

MY mom had that kind of bird and it was sooo mean and never let you pet it. But i guess all birds r different if this is your first bird get a cockatiel or parakeet they r good starter birds and are fairly nice i have a baby cockatiel and it does tricks for me and loves to get pet on the necks by the way it is a girl. i would get a girl they tend to be more friendly and less bitey lol you should get it when it is young so it gets conectd to you. Birds are messy so be prepared to clean the cage once a week. If you really want a quaker i guess you can but be careful if they bite you will bleed. If you change ur mind to a cockatiel they r really bright and have lots of colors too but remember cockatiell not cockatoo. because cockatoos are much bigger and way meaner. cockatiels cost around 50 to 60 dollars in the US but i have n idea what they cost in ur country th cages doesnt have to be big and they need 2 to 3 toys and maybe a bell or mirror. I hope i helped god luck!
