How to convince my parents to allow me to drive?

I already have my license, I am 16. I have a 4.3 GPA. I don't do any stupid things. Car insurance will only be around 50 bucks a month so money won't be a problem.

But my parents keep saying "I need more experience" or "I don't trust you" or other lame excuses. I want to drive by myself so I won't have to depend on my parents to drive me everywhere.

Their excuses are not lame. As much as teenagers hate to learn this the fact is that your brain won't be completely developed until around age 25. Mine was the same. At 16 you're far more likely to do stupid things or simply make a mistake that experience and watching others would keep you from making. Your parents are the one to pay the penalty if you screw up. They'll be the ones to put you in a box underground to rot and spend the rest of their days hating themselves for letting you drive. Divorce is a common occurrence and less likely so suicide is a possibility when children die like this. Would you take that chance with your child? With your pet? Not likely. If you lived on a farm and drove to a village 10 miles away it would be a different story but living in a city or urban area is very dangerous. Although its difficult to see now the day will come when you see the wisdom of their decision. You're 16 - you've got 60 years of driving or more ahead of you. You can wait until your parents think you're ready. That why God gave them to you.
